| THE ARROGANTS - "YOU’VE ALWAYS KNOWN WHEN
BEST TO SAY GOODBYE" (SELF-RELEASED). Finally, after 2 fantastic ep’s
from this unheralded Southern California dream pop band, comes a full-length.
Well, that’s a bit of an understatement since it’s a ! double
cd. The first disc has 23 songs on it while the second is a dvd full of
mostly the band in different recording sessions as well as some dialogue
and hijinks. The band prefer to present this as 3 separate ep’s and
the songs are broken up that way as well . The band had recorded tons of
songs over the past few years and I guess, had no label to release them
(why Shelflife, who released the band’s two previous eps, didn’t
want to release this is anyone’s guess). There’s some re-recorded
stuff from the eps’ ( “The Distance Between Us”, “Another
Cold Morning”, “Lovesick” , etc.) as well as killer stuff
I had never heard before (“Antony & Cleopatra”, “Wishing
Well, the cool acoustic “People love Money more than People”,
etc. ) . Old or new the band (including Jana’s gorgeous vocals ) all
sound prime once again so don’t let this gem go unnoticed. The price
is right too. |
